Regent's Park Open Air Theatre is currently celebrating an extraordinary moment, with five of its originated productions simultaneously captivating audiences across the UK and internationally. This week alone, Fiddler on the Roof, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Enormous Crocodile The Musical, Evita, and 101 Dalmatians The Musical are reaching over 75,000 people outside of the Park.
The acclaimed production of Fiddler on the Roof, which became the most successful show in the theatre's 93-year history, is currently on a UK and Ireland tour. Following a sold-out run at the Barbican, the production has played 150 performances and reached over 180,000 people.
Similarly, the Olivier Award-winning Jesus Christ Superstar, first staged in 2016, has played over 1,500 performances worldwide and reached over 1.5 million people. Its extensive tour of Australia concludes this week in Brisbane.
Roald Dahl’s The Enormous Crocodile The Musical, which had a smash-hit run in 2024, is now beginning its tour at the Theatre Royal Windsor before returning to Regent's Park for a limited run this season. Meanwhile, an earlier version of Jamie Lloyd’s production of Evita is wowing audiences at The London Palladium, and 101 Dalmatians The Musical is enjoying a limited London run at the Eventim Apollo following a successful UK tour.
As these productions thrive, the theatre's highly-anticipated new show, Brigadoon, is currently in previews. The musical, a new adaptation by playwright Rona Munro, is directed and choreographed by Drew McOnie in his first season as Artistic Director. The success of these shows highlights the theatre's role in contributing to the wider arts sector, a point that Executive Director James Pidgeon emphasized: "We are thrilled to see so many productions that originated here now travelling beyond our magical home and delighting audiences across the world."
