Prepare for a monumental celebration as Cameron Mackintosh announces a spectacular special anniversary cast for the West End production of Les Misérables, running for just eight weeks from September 8 to November 1, 2025. This limited engagement marks the iconic musical's 40th anniversary, bringing together an extraordinary company of artists from Les Mis history across West End, international, film, and Arena Spectacular productions.
Leading this commemorative cast will be Killian Donnelly as Jean Valjean, alongside Bradley Jaden as Javert, Katie Hall as Fantine, and Jac Yarrow as Marius. Joining them will be Shan Ako as Éponine, Jordan Shaw as Enjolras, and Beatrice Penny-Touré as Cosette. Adding to the excitement, celebrated British actor Adam Gillen makes his Sondheim Theatre debut as Thénardier, with Australian theatre legend Marina Prior as Madame Thénardier. Ian McIntosh will perform as Jean Valjean at certain performances. Details for securing tickets to the actual birthday performance on Wednesday, October 8, will be announced soon.
Cameron Mackintosh expressed his amazement at the show’s enduring success: “It’s hard to believe that Les Misérables is already 40 years old and still in the prime of life on Shaftesbury Avenue.” He highlighted the remarkable year for Les Mis, noting the sold-out Arena Tour and the UK-wide amateur theatre project, "Let The People Sing."
Before the anniversary cast takes the stage, a brand-new company will launch the show into its fifth record-breaking decade from July 7. This cast will feature Ian McIntosh as Jean Valjean, Sam Oladeinde as Javert, and Katie Hall as Fantine, with most continuing after the special birthday season.
Les Misérables has captivated over 130 million people worldwide, translated into 22 languages, and garnered over 180 major awards. This 40th-anniversary celebration promises to be a truly unforgettable milestone for "the world’s longest running musical." Booking is open until March 28, 2026, with tickets starting from £25.
