London theatregoers are in for a treat this summer as the National Theatre's critically acclaimed production, Till the Stars Come Down, transfers to the Theatre Royal Haymarket. The smash-hit play, penned by former National Theatre writer-in-residence Beth Steel and directed by Bijan Sheibani, begins its West End run on July 1 and plays through September 27, 2025.
Dubbed a "passionate, heart-breaking and hilarious portrayal," the play invites audiences to the wedding of Sylvia and Marek. Set on a sweltering summer's day, a family gathers to welcome a new member, but as celebratory vodka flows and lively dances ensue, underlying tensions surface, pushing the boundaries of love and loyalty. The narrative explores the poignant question of what happens when life's happiest moment ushers in an uncertain future.
The West End transfer introduces several new cast members to the production, including Dorothy Atkinson as Aunty Carol, Adrian Bower as John, Julian Kostov as Marek, Aisling Loftus as Maggie, and Ruby Thompson as Leanne. They join returning cast members Lucy Black as Hazel, Sinéad Matthews as Sylvia, Philip Whitchurch as Uncle Pete, and Alan Williams as Tony, ensuring a stellar ensemble for this much-anticipated run.
Presented by the National Theatre, Eleanor Lloyd Productions, Fiery Angel, Short Street Productions, and Access Entertainment, Till the Stars Come Down promises to be a highlight of the London theatre season. Tickets start from £20, with assisted performances including a captioned show on September 3 and an audio-described performance on September 10.
