The Old Vic Theatre has officially announced the return of the Tony and Olivier Award-winning Girl from the North Country, set to run for a strictly limited nine-week engagement from 24 June to 23 August 2025. This critically acclaimed musical, which made its world premiere at The Old Vic in 2017, will bring its evocative mix of Bob Dylan’s music and Conor McPherson’s writing back to the stage where it all began. A press performance is scheduled for Wednesday, 9 July 2025.
Written and directed by Conor McPherson, with music and lyrics by Bob Dylan, Girl from the North Country features a 23-strong cast of actors and musicians. Full casting and creative team details will be announced in the coming months.
After a sold-out run at The Old Vic, Girl from the North Country transferred to London’s West End in 2017, before making its Broadway debut in 2020. The show’s success has led to international productions across Canada, Australia, and a number of major tours throughout the US, UK, and Ireland. A West End revival in 2019 further cemented its place as a landmark production in the world of musical theatre. Now, the show will return home to The Old Vic, where it first captured the hearts of audiences.
Conor McPherson, the writer and director of Girl from the North Country, expressed his excitement about the return, saying, “It’s a humbling privilege to bring Girl from the North Country home to The Old Vic. I’m constantly amazed by how much this show has meant to people, and I’m thrilled to welcome both new and familiar faces to the theatre for this special return.”
Matthew Warchus, Artistic Director of The Old Vic, described the show as a “once-in-a-lifetime” production, praising the combination of Dylan’s iconic songs and McPherson’s unique storytelling. He added, “This production has redefined what musical theatre can be and will be incredibly special for our audiences.”
Tickets for Girl from the North Country go on general sale at midday on Monday, 14 April, with Priority Members able to purchase tickets from today.
