The Playground Theatre is throwing open its doors for a full day of musical theatre magic – and it’s completely free. Whether you’re an experienced performer or just someone who loves to move, speak, or sing, this exciting programme of workshops promises something for everyone.
Running from 11 AM to 6:30 PM, the event invites participants of all ages and experience levels to explore the vibrant world of musical theatre through dance, acting, and song. With no previous experience required, this inclusive and engaging day is a perfect opportunity to step into the spotlight – or simply try something new.
The Day’s Line-Up Includes:11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Dance Workshop
Step into high-energy choreography with acclaimed choreographer Lee Payne, as you explore movement inspired by Sound Clash, blending the rhythmic flair of dancehall with classic tap dance styles.
2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Acting/Spoken Word Workshop
Discover the power of storytelling with writer and actor Marc Zayat. This dynamic session combines dramatic techniques, rhythmic beats, and spoken word to help participants develop performance confidence and creativity.
4:30 PM – 6:30 PM
Singing Workshop
Led by renowned singer Susan Harriott, this session will guide voices of all levels through vocal techniques, harmonies, and powerful musical themes influenced by gospel, reggae, and dancehall.
This community-driven event is open to individuals and families alike, supported by Arts Council England through The National Lottery Projects Grant.
