An evening with Giffords Circus is always enchating but this years show is pure magic from start to finish. 'Waterfield', an English Idyll full of creatures of the wetlands perfectly captures the charm, humour and heart that makes Giffords Circus so unique.
Moments away from the roaring traffic, on a hot London evening, arriving at Chiswick House Gardens was like stepping into another world. The vintage burgundy wagons, live music and smell of popcorn created a wonderfully nostalgic feeling before the show had even begun. Inside the big top, every detail was stunning — home-made costumes, organic set design and incredible live musicians who brought light and shade to every performance.
The acts themselves were breathtaking. The acrobats and aerial performers were genuinely jaw-dropping, with several moments that had the entire audience gasping and cheering. The famous Wheel of Death act was absolutely thrilling, while the comedy and clowning brought constant laughter for both adults and children. What makes Giffords so unique is how intimate and personal it feels compared with larger commercial circus productions. There’s warmth, humour and real artistry in every moment.
The countryside-inspired theme of Waterfield was beautifully woven throughout the show, creating something that felt imaginative, quirky and distinctly British. Even the animals added to the charm, especially the audience favourite, Brian the Goose.
The entire production was full of joy, creativity and heart. You could feel the passion from everyone involved, from the performers to the musicians and staff. It was the perfect family outing but equally magical for adults without children too.
A truly unforgettable five-star experience. I left smiling from ear to ear and already want to book again for next year.
