‘Sabrage’ at King’s Cross' Lafayette is a truly unforgettable experience that blends circus-like absurdity with sultry cabaret charm. From the moment the show begins, it catapults you into a unique world where nothing feels off-limits (except for filming during the dances with nudity). The atmosphere is both playful and risqué, setting the tone for an evening that’s part spectacle, part seductive performance.
This show is a rollercoaster of the absurd, from its raunchy antics to its ridiculous stunts, and it's packed with audience participation that will either leave you blushing or laughing uncontrollably. It’s best to leave your inhibitions at the door, as you may be dragged into the performance in ways you didn’t quite expect.
The first half is undeniably weird and wonderfully captivating, but some acts, like the French jester duo who toss and catch grapes from shocking distances, go on a bit too long. It felt like this particular performance would have been better as a quick interlude rather than a main feature.
A highlight of the evening comes during the intermission, when you can retreat to Nola’s VIP speakeasy bar (for an upgraded price of £50pp). Stepping down a long, winding corridor transports you to a time of opulence and charm reminiscent of the Prohibition era. The vintage decor and luxurious atmosphere, paired with live music and expertly crafted cocktails, are a perfect way to unwind before the second act. It’s a fitting tribute to Lafayette’s unique appeal as a venue that oozes old-school glamour.
The second half of the show quickly picked up the pace, delivering a much more seamless experience, with each act bringing something distinct and captivating. The standout moments came from the delightfully awkward jester, Spencer Novich, whose lip-syncing performance was hilariously unforgettable, and the stunning acrobatic duo, Flynn Miller and Kimberley Bargenquast, whose aerial dance left the audience in awe.
Whether you’re planning a wild hen/stag do, looking to test your chemistry on a daring third date, or fancy shocking a member of the family, Sabrage offers the kind of night you won’t forget.
