Award-winning performer and writer Adam Riches is set to make a triumphant return to London's Park Theatre, opening the venue's Park200 2027 season with a double bill of acclaimed solo productions, The Captain and Jimmy. Produced by Park Theatre Productions and TIGCO, the shows will run back-to-back in January 2027 under the direction of Tom Parry.
Fresh off winning a prestigious Edinburgh Fringe First Award, The Captain tells the extraordinary story of Captain Matthew Webb, the first person to swim the English Channel. Running from Tuesday 12 January to Saturday 23 January 2027, the production celebrates Webb's bravery, fortitude, and relentless pursuit of the impossible through Riches' signature character comedy and energetic storytelling.
Sharing the stage is Jimmy, Riches’ critically acclaimed one-man play chronicling the legendary tennis champion Jimmy Connors. Following a completely sold-out run at Park Theatre earlier this year, the show returns from Thursday 14 January to Saturday 23 January 2027. Jimmy captures Connors’ iconic 1991 US Open comeback, taking audiences inside the mind of an ageing, swaggering sporting icon through a fast-paced and physical performance.
Speaking on the upcoming double bill, Adam Riches shared his excitement about bringing both stories to the venue: "It's great to be bringing The Captain to Park. It had such a terrific run in Edinburgh where audiences really seemed to engage with me sweeping them up inside a good old-fashioned yarn. And as for returning with the ever-popular Jimmy, well this just continues to be the show that keeps on giving. Doing both back-to-back will be a real test - but nothing compared to what these twin titans of sport overcame. A great way to start 2027."
Artistic Director Jez Bond and Executive Director Catherine McKinney welcomed the announcement, highlighting Riches' unique blend of physical comedy and compelling biographical theatre. Tickets and full schedule details for both productions are available via the Park Theatre box office and official website.
