Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical The Phantom of the Opera will celebrate four decades in the West End with a special 40th Anniversary gala performance at His Majesty’s Theatre on Friday, 9 October 2026.
Produced by Cameron Mackintosh, the landmark evening will culminate in a special curtain call featuring celebrated alumni artists from the past forty years joining the current West End company on stage. A limited release of tickets for the anniversary performance will go on sale in late September 2026, accessible via sign-ups to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Box Five Club.
All ticket proceeds from the gala performance will be matched by both the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation and the Mackintosh Foundation. The combined funds will launch the Phantom 40th Scholarship Programme, an initiative designed to fund professional performing arts training across the UK and eliminate financial barriers for young musicians and performers entering the industry. The programme will officially open for applications for the 2027–28 academic year.
The 40th anniversary company features Jordan Donica taking over the title role as The Phantom alongside Beatrice Penny-Touré as Christine Daaé. The international cast also includes Rhys Whitfield as Raoul, West End icon Sierra Boggess as Carlotta Giudicelli, Joseph Millson as Monsieur André, Ian Pirie as Monsieur Firmin, Matt Bateman as Ubaldo Piangi, Millie Lyon as Meg Giry, and two-time Olivier Award winner Joanna Riding making her debut in the production as Madame Giry. Colleen Rose Curran will continue to play Christine Daaé at select performances.
First opening at His Majesty’s Theatre in 1986, The Phantom of the Opera has played to over 160 million people across 217 cities worldwide. The anniversary cast will perform through to 21 November 2026, with tickets for the regular West End season currently on sale via the official website.
