Roald Dahl’s The Enormous Crocodile The Musical has returned to London for a four-week summer engagement at the Lyric Hammersmith, running through to Saturday 22 August 2026. Presented by The Roald Dahl Story Company, this family musical marks its return to the capital following previous seasons at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre and a 15-venue national tour across the UK.
The production features Chelsea Da Silva in her professional theatre debut as The Enormous Crocodile. Joining her in the jungle menagerie are Precious Abimbola as Trunky the Elephant, Jordan Eskeisa as Humpy Rumpy the Hippopotamus, Ciara Hudson as Roly Poly Bird, and Marienella Phillips as Muggle Wump the Monkey, with René Francalanza and Eleanor Ambekar serving as swings.
Based on Roald Dahl’s picture book, the story follows the hungry crocodile as he searches the jungle for unsuspecting children, leaving the other creatures to rally their courage and foil his secret plans. The stage adaptation features music by Ahmed Abdullahi Gallab, book and lyrics by Suhayla El-Bushra, and additional music and lyrics by Tom Brady.
Developed and directed by Emily Lim, the production incorporates a diverse array of puppetry co-directed and designed by Toby Olié. The creative team also includes set and costume design by Fly Davis, puppetry co-design and supervision by Daisy Beattie, choreography by Vicki Igbokwe-Ozoagu, lighting design by Jessica Hung Han Yun, and sound design by Tom Gibbons. Associate direction is handled by Tash Holway and Blythe Stewart, with associate puppetry direction by Michael Jean-Marain.
Originally co-produced by The Roald Dahl Story Company, Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, and Leeds Playhouse, the show opened its 2026 tour in Brighton before visiting cities including Cardiff, Newcastle, Bristol, and Glasgow. General management for the London run is handled by PW Productions.
