Maureen Lipman has been announced to join the cast of Right before I go. for a limited London run at the Soho Theatre from 5 to 10 September 2026.
Written by Golden Girls and Gilmore Girls writer Stan Zimmerman, the suicide awareness play transfers directly to London following a run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The staging coincides with Suicide Awareness Month and features performances on World Suicide Prevention Day, 10 September.
Directed by Abigail Morris (Kindertransport, Colder Than Here), the production utilizes real suicide notes from individuals of all backgrounds—including celebrities, veterans, bullied teenagers, LGBTQ+ individuals, and survivors—to highlight the impact of suicide. Lipman leads an ensemble cast alongside Iz Hesketh, Dominique Moore, Claire-Marie Hall, Emrhys Cooper, Gerard McCarthy, Paul Bigley, Tosh Wanogho-Maud, and Zimmerman himself.
Author and actor Stan Zimmerman created the piece following the loss of a close friend, structuring the performance around actors reading from music stands to foster discussion around the subject. Previous US iterations of the production have featured performers such as Vanessa Williams, Olly Alexander, Christine Taylor, and Patrick Page.
Each 60-minute performance at the Soho Theatre will be immediately followed by a 30-minute post-show talkback session featuring the cast, audience members, and a local mental health professional.
