Glasgow’s Tron Theatre has announced its Autumn/Winter 2026 season, delivering a packed programme of bold contemporary drama, acclaimed visiting companies, and major local anniversaries. Curated by Artistic Director Jemima Levick, the new season is headlined by two major in-house productions alongside a curated selection of touring shows, panel discussions, and community initiatives.
The main stage season opens with Lulu Raczka’s Antigone, running from 18 September to 10 October. Directed by Finn den Hertog in association with theatre collective Groupwork, this modern two-hander reimagines Sophocles’ classic tragedy through the explosive dynamic of two sisters fighting for justice and survival. Following this, the venue celebrates the 40th anniversary of the iconic Tron Panto with The Snaw Queen, running from 18 November to 31 December. Written by, directed by, and starring panto legend Johnny McKnight as Santa, the remounted festive favourite reunites McKnight with co-star Julie Wilson Nimmo for a madcap adventure across the pantosphere.
The visiting company lineup brings high-profile UK and international acts to the Trongate venue. Touring company ThickSkin presents their psychological horror-thriller It Walks Around The House At Night from 15 to 17 October, while Gilded Balloon’s The Big Comedy Roadshow arrives on 18 October featuring Jack Skipper and Alison Spittle. Belgian theatre collective Ontroerend Goed will also perform their Audience Award-winning production Thanks For Being Here on 22 and 23 October.
Additional season highlights include two exclusive In Tronversation With... live interview events. The first, on 16 August, gathers cast members from BBC’s River City to mark the soap’s final episodes, while a special 24 October event turns the spotlight on Johnny McKnight’s four-decade contribution to Scottish theatre. The venue will also participate in the Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival on 20 September, offering free guided tours of its historic 16th-century steeple.
Marking its 10th anniversary this year, the Tron’s Pay It Forward scheme continues to provide free tickets to local community groups, funded by public donations. Tickets for the entire Autumn/Winter 2026 season are on sale today via the Tron Theatre box office and official website.
