The world premiere stage adaptation of Dermot O’Leary’s sensationally popular children’s book, Toto the Ninja Cat and the Great Snake Escape, is set to embark on a highly anticipated national tour. Illustrated by Nick East, the beloved story has been transformed into a visually dazzling theatrical production that is ready to capture the hearts of young audiences and families across the country following a sell-out run at London's Little Angel Theatre.
Based on O’Leary’s real-life pets, the bestselling book series has sold more than half a million copies worldwide and has been translated into 17 languages. The story follows Toto, an ordinary-looking cat who is almost completely blind but possesses incredible, secret ninja skills. By night, Toto and her cheeky brother, Silver, embark on daring missions, starting with a quest to save the streets of London from an escaped King Cobra.
The heartwarming, action-packed tale has been lovingly adapted for the stage by the award-winning duo of Little Angel Artistic Director Samantha Lane and acclaimed musician Barb Jungr, who previously earned an Olivier nomination for The Smartest Giant in Town. The production features an array of wonderful original music, brilliant songs, and exceptional puppetry.
Bringing the colorful characters to life is an esteemed creative team, including celebrated puppet and set designer Oliver Hymans, who recently won a special Fringe Theatre Award for his exceptional services to puppetry. The show is performed by a talented three-person cast consisting of Charlotte Bloomsbury, Richard Lounds, and Vinnie Monachello.
Author Dermot O’Leary expressed his delight at seeing his fearless feline's adventures brought to life, noting that Toto would be absolutely thrilled to see her journey leap from the page to the stage. Perfect for children aged five and over, this imaginative 55-minute production promises a purr-fectly thrilling theatrical experience filled with humor, warmth, and surprises for the entire family.
