British-Italian actor and writer Giulia A.Cryan brings her autobiographical solo show The Seat of Me to Edinburgh Festival Fringe

2026, following a sold-out debut at Riverside Studios.

With only a chair and a handful of symbolic objects, The Seat of Me blends storytelling, movement, and fragments of Edith Piaf's music. The Seat of Me is a poetic and deeply personal exploration of identity, migration, and belonging. With only a chair and a handful of symbolic objects, the piece traces a journey across Rome, New York, Los Angeles, and London - through ballet, lost mentors, an immigration scare at LAX, and an unexpected love story.

Although rooted in Giulia’s experience of ballet, the piece is not a dance work but an intimate solo theatre performance combining spoken word, music, and autobiographical storytelling.

Written and performed by British-Italian artist Giulia A.Cryan, this autobiographical show speaks to anyone navigating life between cultures, identities, and expectations, and asks the powerful question: What happens when we finally sit with our past so we can stand in our lives?

Following its initial run, audiences praised the show’s emotional honesty and intimacy, with many staying after performances to share personal responses and reflections. The show will have a pre-view at Etcetera Theatre on July 26th, ahead of its Edinburgh run, and will also be presented in London as part of VOILA! Festival (November 2026), continuing to build its audience and development through key festival platforms.
