The Royal Opera has officially unveiled its highly anticipated line-up of main stage programming for the final month of the 2025/26 season. Taking place throughout July 2026, the summer showcase features a monumental new production of I puritani, alongside revivals of beloved operatic favourites La bohème and La Fille du régiment.

Returning to the Royal Opera stage after a nearly 35-year absence, Vincenzo Bellini’s emotionally resonant final masterpiece, I puritani, will run from June 30 to July 19. Directed by Richard Jones, this new staging explores an intense English Civil War love story between a Puritan maiden and a Royalist soldier, characterized by a sublime score and a dramatic descent into heartbreak. The production features international opera star Lisette Oropesa as the deeply vulnerable heroine Elvira, performing alongside Francesco Demuro as her courageous lover Arturo.

Richard Jones’ beloved, atmospheric staging of Giacomo Puccini’s tragic masterpiece La bohème will also return to the main stage from July 1 to July 25. The critically acclaimed production vividly spotlights the modernist aesthetic of Paris on the cusp of monumental change, focusing on the intimate lives and friendships of the city’s bohemian dreamers. The iconic role of the ill-fated seamstress Mimì will be alternated by Juliana Grigoryan and Hrachuhí Bassénz, while Freddie De Tommaso and Stefan Pop split the role of the penniless poet Rodolfo.

Rounding out the summer listings is Laurent Pelly’s joyous, larger-than-life production of Gaetano Donizetti’s comic opera, La Fille du régiment, running from July 7 to July 24. Conducted by Yves Abel, the lighthearted staging follows the romantic complications of an orphaned tomboy raised by a military regiment. Celebrated tenor Juan Diego Flórez returns to his iconic signature role as Tonio, starring alongside Sara Blanch in her highly anticipated Royal Opera debut as Marie. Award-winning actress Tamsin Greig will also join the ensemble as a special guest performer in the role of the Duchesse of Crakentorp.

Public tickets for the summer repertory season are officially on sale now through the official Royal Ballet and Opera website, with prices starting from £12.
