The critically acclaimed, smash-hit musical sensation Everybody’s Talking About Jamie has announced its lead casting for a massive tenth anniversary UK tour. Ashcon Rahmani will make his professional stage debut in the titular role of Jamie New, starring alongside Olivier Award-winning actress Rebecca Trehearn as his fiercely loving mother, Margaret.
The extensive celebratory tour will officially kick off at the Leeds Grand Theatre on January 15, 2027. It marks a historic, full-circle homecoming to Yorkshire, ten years after the show's original world premiere at the Sheffield Crucible. From Leeds, the musical will embark on a comprehensive nationwide journey, visiting major cities including Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham, and Newcastle, with a return to the Sheffield Lyceum in March.
"Ashcon Rahmani making his stage debut as Jamie is a three-strike talent—he can act, sing and dance—and is a real find," producer Nica Burns stated. "Rebecca Trehearn as his mother Margaret is a much-loved staple of the West End. We are so lucky to have these talented players." Director Jonathan Butterell added that the central narrative focuses on the courage of a sixteen-year-old stepping into the world, noting, "How fitting that this is Ashcon’s debut and he will be held in the arms of the extraordinary Rebecca Trehearn."
The production holds immense personal significance for Rahmani, a recent Urdang Academy graduate originally from Rotherham. "I grew up with this show," Rahmani shared. "It was the representation I needed as a young queer boy from the north of England to know this could all be possible for me one day, so to step into those stilettos and become the representation I once had is truly a dream come true." Trehearn expressed equal excitement about stepping into the iconic role of Margaret, noting that the show's enduring themes of courage and unapologetic self-acceptance feel "as relevant now as it did 10 years ago."
Created by lead songwriter of The Feeling, Dan Gillespie Sells, and writer Tom MacRae, the anniversary production will also treat audiences to a brand-new, original song crafted specifically for this historic run.
