One of the most treasured romances of the twenty-first century is making its way to London. Production company Melting Pot has announced the West End premiere of One Day, a brand-new musical adaptation of David Nicholls’ globally bestselling novel and the subsequent Focus Features film. Following a critically acclaimed world premiere at the Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh earlier this year, the production is scheduled to begin performances at London’s Garrick Theatre on Tuesday, November 17, 2026.

The London transfer welcomes the return of its original stars, with Jamie Muscato and Sharon Rose reprising their celebrated roles as the star-crossed Dexter and Emma. Both performers bring extensive West End pedigree to the production; Muscato recently earned acclaim in Cabaret and The Great Comet, while Rose is widely recognized for her standout leading performances in Sylvia and Hamilton.

The creative team features a book by David Greig, former Artistic Director of the Royal Lyceum, with music and lyrics by Abner and Amanda Ramirez of the acclaimed American band Johnnyswim. Additional material is provided by Jeremy Sams, with direction by Tony and Olivier Award nominee Max Webster, who recently helmed high-profile productions of Macbeth and The Importance of Being Earnest in London.

The story follows Emma and Dexter over two decades, charting their interconnected lives, missed opportunities, and enduring connection after meeting on the night of their university graduation. This emotionally rich interpretation utilizes an original score to capture the intensity of youthful ambition, heartbreak, and the unpredictable twists of life.

"From the moment we encountered One Day, we recognised its extraordinary emotional power," producers Simon Friend and Hanna Osmolska stated. "This is a story for anyone who has been in love, for anyone whose life hasn’t gone to plan... With a remarkable creative team, a score that takes us on the emotional rollercoaster of Emma and Dexter’s journey, and the world-class talents of Jamie Muscato and Sharon Rose originating the lead roles, One Day The Musical promises to be a very special show indeed."
