The producers of Burlesque the Musical, alongside executive producer and music icon Christina Aguilera, have officially introduced the three actresses selected to star in the highly coveted lead role of Ali Rose. Based on the 2010 Golden Globe-winning Hollywood film, the stage adaptation features an innovative casting approach that will see the central role shared across concurrent theatrical companies.
The character of Ali Rose—the small-town waitress who transforms into a powerhouse burlesque performer—was originally created by Aguilera in the film written and directed by Steven Antin. Stepping into the spotlight for the theatrical production are British actresses Natalia Jacques, 23, and Gracie O’Brien, 20, alongside 25-year-old American performer Cecilia Petrush, who was discovered during an extensive global talent search.
The triple-casting strategy accommodates a massive multi-production rollout across the United Kingdom. Natalia Jacques, a recent graduate making her professional stage debut, will lead the West End production when it opens this September at London's newest theatrical venue, The Arts at Marble Arch. Gracie O’Brien, also making her professional stage debut, is set to headline a massive 33-week national tour starting this July. Brooklyn-based Cecilia Petrush will serve as the alternate Ali across the productions.
"I wrote Ali for Christina — she was always my dream to play the role," stated writer and creative director Steven Antin, emphasizing that the stage production aims to honor the movie's legacy while expanding the story emotionally. "These three exceptional, talented actresses step into those heels — not to imitate Christina, because no one could or should — but to continue the legacy she began."
Following a completely sold-out, critically acclaimed initial run at the Savoy Theatre last year, the high-voltage musical is preparing for unprecedented regional and city engagement. The secondary UK tour kicks off at the New Victoria Theatre in Woking on July 25, before travelling to venues throughout 2026 and 2027. Featuring a star-studded score with songs by Aguilera, Sia, Diane Warren, and Todrick Hall, the glamorous production is expected to perform to over half a million theatregoers.
