The critically acclaimed all-ages puppet musical The Secret Circus is arriving in London for a series of highly anticipated performances on Saturday 20 June and Sunday 21 June. Currently in the middle of a major world tour from Los Angeles, the innovative production features a collaborative lineup of international and local artists, puppeteers, and circus performers. The upcoming London engagements include afternoon shows at the Rosemary Branch Theatre, followed by evening performances hosted at the Museum of Comedy.
Featuring an original book, music, and lyrics by Chanel Samson and Holly Anne Mitchell, The Secret Circus delivers a heartwarming narrative centered on emotional vulnerability and acceptance. Set in a world where feelings have been outlawed by the "feelings police," a gregarious rock-and-roll ringleader and their eccentric companions establish an underground Big Top. The hidden refuge provides a safe haven for freedom, self-expression, and artistic celebration, welcoming all identities across human and puppet acts alike. Under the Big Top, tightrope walkers, jugglers, and dancing ostriches channel big emotions directly into their performance art.
The family and LGBTQ-friendly show has earned widespread praise during its touring cycle. Broadway World described the production as "campy, heartfelt and unabashedly earnest," while Onstage Colorado commended it as a gentle lesson about vulnerability delivered through memorable songs and plenty of silliness. The creative team noted that the production aims to remind the inner child that personal eccentricities are what truly shine, encouraging audiences to find their own community.
The upcoming London dates showcase a diverse collective of talent, including Chanel Samson, Jon Whitten, Nutmeg Circus, Ian Marchant, Miss Jolie Papillon, José Navarro, and Bella Lane. Following the United Kingdom performances, the production is scheduled to head off-Broadway in New York for an upcoming autumn residency at the Soho Playhouse. Tickets and scheduling information for the London showcases are available through the respective venue box offices.
