Capital Theatres has unveiled a spectacular new lineup of programming for the Festival Theatre and the newly redeveloped King’s Theatre in Edinburgh. The extensive 2026/2027 seasonal schedule features a variety of high-profile theatrical events, highlighted by the Scottish premiere of a West End phenomenon and major new dance commissions.

The undeniable centerpiece of the announcement is the multi-award-winning musical sensation Hadestown, which will make its debut in Scotland at the Festival Theatre from June 15 to June 29, 2027. The eight-time Tony Award and Grammy-winning production is set to visit Edinburgh as part of its first-ever tour of the United Kingdom, treating audiences to its celebrated modern retelling of ancient Greek mythology.

The upcoming season also firmly positions the Festival Theatre as a premier destination for contemporary dance. Rambert will present It’s a Sin from June 8 to June 12, 2027, a major new co-production with Capital Theatres that draws direct creative inspiration from Russell T Davies’ hit 1980s television drama. The production features choreography by Rambert’s artistic director, Benoit Swan Pouffer. Additionally, Northern Ballet will bring Gentleman Jack to the stage from April 1 to April 3, 2027, chronicling the life of historical icon Anne Lister in a collaboration with the Finnish National Ballet.

The theatrical schedule is rounded out by Scottish Opera’s upcoming repertory, which includes highly anticipated stagings of Turandot, Alcina, Fidelio, Madama Butterfly, and Così fan tutte. Drama enthusiasts can also look forward to the stage adaptation of the television favorite Midsomer Murders: The Killings at Badger’s Drift, alongside the psychological thriller Before I Go To Sleep starring Giovanna Fletcher at the King’s Theatre.

Priority booking channels are currently open exclusively to Friends of Capital Theatres. General ticket sales will roll out in phases via the official box office website, beginning with Rambert's It's a Sin on Friday, June 5, followed by Gentleman Jack on Tuesday, June 9, and Hadestown on Thursday, June 11.
