First look production images for High Society are released ahead of the Press Night on 3 June at the Barbican Theatre.

This "sumptuous new production" of Cole Porter’s musical masterpiece marks an exciting moment for the London stage. Highlighting the rehearsal gallery is Freddie Fox, the Slow Horses and House of the Dragon star, who makes his musical theatre debut as the unpredictable Mike Connor. Joining him is Julian Ovenden (Downton Abbey, Bridgerton), returning to the musical stage as the sophisticated Dexter Haven, and Helen George (Call the Midwife), who leads the company alongside the legendary Felicity Kendal.

The images capture the energy and scale of the 28-strong cast as they navigate Rachel Kavanaugh’s new direction and Anthony Van Laast’s legendary choreography. Following the acclaimed success of Anything Goes and Kiss Me, Kate at the same venue, this production reunites several fan favorites, including WhatsOnStage Award winner Carly Mercedes Dyer and Nigel Lindsay, both of whom return to the Barbican for another summer of Cole Porter classics.

Based on Philip Barry’s play The Philadelphia Story, the musical follows the chaotic preparations for a high-society wedding, complete with old flames, tabloid reporters, and a score featuring timeless hits like "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" and "True Love."

Produced by Sir Howard Panter, the strictly limited eight-week season at the Barbican will be followed by a major 20-week tour across the UK and Ireland. With performances already selling out, these rehearsal images provide a tantalizing glimpse into what is poised to be the most "swell party" of the summer season. Tickets are currently available via the show's official website ahead of the official press night on June 3.
