Producers Jamie Lloyd and Michael Harrison have officially announced that their critically acclaimed, Olivier Award-winning production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita will transfer to Broadway. Starring Golden Globe and Olivier Award winner Rachel Zegler in the titular role of Eva Perón, the musical is set to play the historic Winter Garden Theatre. Preview performances will begin on Saturday, 27 February 2027, ahead of an official opening night scheduled for Thursday, 25 March 2027.

The production arrives in New York following a massively successful, sold-out engagement at the London Palladium. The West End run earned overwhelming critical acclaim, securing five-star reviews alongside two Olivier Awards, including Best Actress in a Musical for Zegler. The staging was widely praised by British media as a triumphant, thrilling revival of the classic masterwork. The Broadway engagement at the Winter Garden Theatre will immediately follow Jamie Lloyd’s strictly limited autumn residency of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing at the same venue.

The musical charts the meteoric rise of Eva Perón, who used her relentless ambition and passion to escape poverty and become the most powerful woman in Latin America, capturing the heart of her nation while simultaneously dividing its soul. The production is driven by one of musical theatre's most iconic scores, featuring timeless numbers such as "Don’t Cry For Me Argentina," "Oh What A Circus," "Another Suitcase in Another Hall," and the Academy Award-winning song "You Must Love Me."

The Broadway staging is produced by The Jamie Lloyd Company and Lloyd Webber Harrison Musicals, with 101 Productions, Ltd. serving as general managers. While Zegler is confirmed as the principal lead, producers noted she will not perform at certain dates, with alternate casting and full creative team details to be announced shortly.
