The critically acclaimed 20th anniversary production of Avenue Q is extending its limited West End run due to popular demand. Originally scheduled for a shorter engagement, the hilarious puppet musical will now continue to entertain audiences at the Shaftesbury Theatre into the new year, with bookings officially extended until Sunday 3 January 2027.

The production has proved to be a major hit with both long-time fans and a brand-new generation of theatregoers discovering the show's unique blend of heart, humour, and honesty for the first time. Producers Kevin McCollum and Jamie Wilson expressed their delight at the extraordinary public response, noting that the show's timeless wit, unforgettable score, and contemporary themes continue to resonate strongly with modern audiences.

The anniversary staging stars Emily Benjamin as Kate Monster and Lucy the Slut, alongside Noah Harrison as Princeton and Rod. The principal cast also features Meg Hateley, Oliver Jacobson, Charlie McCullagh, Amelia Kinu Muus, and Dionne Ward-Anderson, supported by a talented ensemble.

The creative team is led by the original award-winning Broadway director Jason Moore. The musical features a celebrated book by Jeff Whitty, with music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx. This landmark production also utilizes the original Broadway puppets, which were conceived and designed by Rick Lyon.

Avenue Q follows the story of Princeton, a recent college graduate who moves into a shabby New York apartment on Avenue Q as he searches for his purpose in life. Together with his colourful, irreverent neighbours, he navigates the universal struggles of finding work, falling in love, and paying the bills.

The musical first arrived in the West End in 2006, enjoying a successful four-year run across the Noël Coward, Gielgud, and Wyndham’s theatres before closing in 2010. Following a special anniversary concert in 2024, this full-scale revival marks a triumphant return for the mischievous, Tony Award-winning production.
