Perform Productions is set to sail back into London’s West End this summer with its critically acclaimed family musical, Mermaids & Pirates. Following a highly successful premiere at the children’s festival Perform in the Park in 2023, the sun-soaked Caribbean adventure will land at the historic St Martin’s Theatre for a strictly limited run from July 21st to July 26th.
The upcoming production follows a string of sold-out family hits at the venue, which is famously the long-term home of The Mousetrap. Perform Productions previously captivated young audiences at St Martin’s Theatre with Magical Merlin in October 2025 and Midnight in the Toyshop in April 2026. This latest one-hour musical is specifically crafted for the entire family, offering a vibrant mix of catchy songs, energetic dancing, and larger-than-life characters suitable for children aged three and above.
The story follows the bumbling pirate Long Gone Silver and his crew as they discover Treasure Island, only to find it inhabited by Marina and her group of super-cool mermaids. When the island's Sacred Coconut mysteriously disappears, chaos ensues, leaving it up to a singing parrot named Rita Conchita and her friends to save the day. The production boasts a calypso-infused score, salsa-styled choreography, and plenty of comedic surprises, all while weaving in valuable themes of teamwork, friendship, and courage.
Perform Productions is spearheaded by Lucy Quick and Will Barnett, who are also the co-founders of Perform, one of the UK’s leading drama schools for children. Producer Lucy Quick expressed immense excitement about bringing the production to a wider West End audience after its fantastic reception in 2023, promising a magical summer treat for theatregoers young and old.
Performances are scheduled at family-friendly times throughout the week, including morning and afternoon slots at 11:00 AM, 11:30 AM, and 2:00 PM. Tickets range from £20 to £60, and bookings can be made directly through the official website at perform.org.uk/shows/mermaids-and-pirates.
