Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has officially announced the complete cast for its upcoming production of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Directed by the visionary Atri Banerjee, this fresh take on the beloved comedy is set to run from 20 June to 18 July 2026, making it a cornerstone of London’s summer theatrical season.
Director Atri Banerjee, known for his acclaimed work on the RSC’s Julius Caesar and the Royal Exchange’s The Glass Menagerie, brings a blissful, folk-infused aesthetic to the Park. This production will be underscored by original melodies composed by Maimuna Memon, creating a spellbinding atmosphere that utilizes the theatre’s unique outdoor setting.
"There is no play better suited to the Park’s surroundings," said Banerjee. "I can’t wait to work with this extraordinary group of actors and creatives to collectively dream this summer." Artistic Director Drew McOnie added that he is delighted to welcome the ensemble of actors and actor-musicians to Athens and the fairy kingdom once again.
The ensemble features a blend of established performers and emerging talent:
The Fairies & Court: Olivier Huband takes on the dual roles of Oberon and Theseus, while Jenny Rainsford doubles as Titania and Hippolyta. The mischievous Puck will be played by Georgia Bruce, who previously appeared in the theatre’s 2024 production of Fiddler on the Roof.
The Lovers: The four fleeing lovers at the heart of the chaos are portrayed by Hiftu Quasem (Hermia), Misia Butler (Lysander), Mary Malone (Helena), and Terique Jarrett (Demetrius).
The Mechanicals: The iconic role of Bottom the weaver will be played by Nadeem Islam. The company also includes Harriet Gordon-Anderson as Quince and Neil D'Souza as Snug and Egeus.
Rounding out the cast are Issam Al Ghussain (Flute), Rachel Barnes (Moth), Amelia Gabriel (Mustardseed), Rori Hawthorn (Cobweb), Damien James (Peaseblossom), Evie Jones (Snout), and Dumile Sibanda (Starveling).
With a press night scheduled for 29 June, the production promises to transport audiences into an enchanted forest where desire is turned upside down and the impossible becomes reality. Tickets are available now via the official website, with various concessions and discounts offered for the 2026 season.
