Following a sensational, sold-out run at the Royal Court Theatre, the critically acclaimed production of Kimberly Belflower’s John Proctor Is the Villain is officially heading to the West End. Directed by Tony Award-winner Danya Taymor, the play will take up residence at Wyndham’s Theatre for a strictly limited 12-week season beginning February 2, 2027.

The production has become the breakout hit of the London stage this year, coinciding with the Royal Court's 70th anniversary season. Tickets for the West End transfer are expected to be in high demand and go on sale tomorrow, Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 2:00 PM.

Set in a small town and fueled by a soundtrack of pop music and adrenaline, the play offers a searing exploration of girlhood, power, and the courage required to challenge long-standing narratives. When five young women begin to uncover dark truths beneath the surface of their community, they decide to take control of history themselves.

Critics have hailed the work as "absolutely essential" and a "revolution" in contemporary drama. The production arrives in London trailing major accolades from its March 2025 Broadway debut, where it earned seven Tony Award nominations, including Best Play.

The UK premiere has already garnered rare five-star reviews. The strictly limited run will conclude on April 24, 2027. While casting for the West End engagement is yet to be announced, fans can sign up for priority access now at johnproctoristhevillain.com.

Presented by a powerhouse producing team including Sonia Friedman Productions and Wessex Grove, the staging features a world-class creative team with scenography by AMP, lighting by Natasha Katz, and movement direction by Tilly Evans-Krueger.
