The First Lady of British Musical Theatre is returning to the recording studio with a project that is as intimate as it is expansive. Following a monumental week in which she was honored with the Special Award at the 2026 Olivier Awards—complete with a personal congratulatory message from HM Queen Camilla—Dame Elaine Paige has announced the release of her new album, Miscellaneous Paige, arriving July 17, 2026, via Westway Music.
Miscellaneous Paige is described by the artist as a nostalgic reflection, curated with the passage of time as its central theme. The album features a hand-picked selection of songs that have served as "living companions" throughout her legendary career. From reimagined classics by The Beatles, Jimmy Webb, and The Bee Gees to modern discoveries by Finneas and Ben Platt, the record aims to preserve the emotional truth of the lyrics while offering fresh, sophisticated arrangements.
“It’s a collection of songs gathered over the years,” Elaine shared. “Some are old companions from my youth… they taught me everything—joy, heartbreak, and the importance of rewinding a cassette with a pencil. Others are newer discoveries which simply resonate with me.”
The preliminary track listing reveals a diverse sonic palette, including a medley of Bacharach & David’s "Windows of the World/What the World Needs Now," Joni Mitchell’s "Woodstock," and a poignant rendition of Sting’s "August Winds." The album highlights Paige’s unique ability to bridge the gap between the golden era of songwriting and the contemporary stage.
The announcement follows a period of immense recognition for Paige. In addition to her recent Olivier triumph, she was elevated to Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in King Charles III’s 2025 Birthday Honours.
Beyond her record-breaking stage career and her 22-year residency on BBC Radio 2, Dame Elaine continues to champion the future of the arts through her scholarships at Mountview Academy and Performers College Brighton.
