The sun never sets on the Greek island of Kalokairi. The global sensation MAMMA MIA! has officially extended its booking period at London’s Novello Theatre through to Saturday 13 March 2027. The announcement comes at a milestone moment for the production, which prepares to celebrate its 27th birthday in the West End on 6 April 2026.

Since its world premiere in London in 1999, MAMMA MIA! has evolved from a daring jukebox musical into a staggering global brand. It is currently the third longest-running musical in West End history, having been seen by over 11 million people in London alone across more than 10,000 performances.

The production’s financial power remains undisputed; in February 2024, it set a new record for the highest weekly gross in its London history, followed by its highest-ever grossing single performance on 28 December 2024. Globally, the show has grossed over £4.5 billion at the box office and reached an audience of 70 million across 50 productions in 16 languages.

The "sunny, funny" tale of Donna Sheridan and her daughter Sophie—set to the timeless hits of ABBA—is a rare cultural double-threat, having spawned two record-breaking films starring Meryl Streep and Cher. The theatrical production recently completed a successful six-month return to Broadway’s Winter Garden Theatre, while a new UK Tour is slated to run through January 2027.

The current West End cast features Sara Poyzer as Donna, Ellie Kingdon as Sophie, and Richard Standing as Sam. Notably, the company includes Maisie Waller, a finalist from ITV’s talent search MAMMA MIA! I Have a Dream, who was recently promoted to first cover for the role of Sophie.

With music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, and a book by Catherine Johnson, the production continues to offer accessible pricing, including early bird savings and family ticket rates starting from £17.50.

Tickets for the new booking period are on sale now at mamma-mia.com.
