The fuzzy, foul-mouthed residents of the most famous street in New York have officially touched down in London. FIRST LOOK images have been released for the highly anticipated West End return of Avenue Q, which is set to occupy the Shaftesbury Theatre for a strictly limited anniversary season. In a nostalgic treat for musical theatre purists, this production brings the original Broadway puppets back to the stage, reuniting the iconic characters with the city that first embraced them two decades ago. The 2026 company features a powerhouse of West End talent tasking themselves with the unique challenge of "double-stacking" roles. Emily Benjamin leads the cast in the dual roles of the lovelorn Kate Monster and the sultry Lucy The Slut, while Noah Harrison takes on the idealistic Princeton alongside the closeted investment banker, Rod.
The cast is bolstered by Meg Hateley as Mrs. T and a Bad Idea Bear, Oliver Jacobson as the aspiring comedian Brian, and Charlie McCullagh handling the complex trio of Nicky, Trekkie Monster, and the second Bad Idea Bear. Rounding out the principal lineup are Amelia Kinu Muus as Christmas Eve and Dionne Ward-Anderson as the building's superintendent, Gary Coleman.
This anniversary production sees the return of original award-winning Broadway director Jason Moore, ensuring the show retains the sharp, subversive wit that made it a Triple Crown Tony winner. The legendary score by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx remains intact, featuring the original Broadway puppet designs by Rick Lyon.
Adding a fresh British perspective, the production welcomes a new UK-based creative team, including choreography by Ebony Molina and lighting by Tim Lutkin. Notably, original West End "Queen of the Q" Julie Atherton returns to the fold, serving as Associate Director.
Produced by Kevin McCollum and Jamie Wilson Productions, this limited run is expected to be one of the hottest tickets of the season. Whether you're a "Monster" or just a "Bad Idea Bear," it's time to head back to the street where the internet is for... well, you know.
