April 2026 brings an electric atmosphere to Aberdeen Arts Centre, where the city’s vibrant dance community takes center stage alongside high-energy musical theatre and thought-provoking drama. This month’s program seamlessly blends the best of North East talent with acclaimed touring productions.
A Month of Movement and Music
Dance dominates the early schedule as Danz Creations celebrates its 20th anniversary with Take 20 & Danz (March 31 – April 4), followed by the Mathieson School of Dance and Acro marking two decades of their own in Step Back in Time (April 10–11). The rhythm continues with Aberdeen University Dance Society’s Dancing Through the Decades on April 17 and RC Performing Arts’ annual showcase, Into the Spotlight, on April 19.
For music and theatre lovers, the Country Superstars tribute (April 5) brings the hits of Dolly Parton to life, while the Academy of Expressive Arts rocks the auditorium with the Queen-inspired musical We Will Rock You (April 29 – May 2).
Drama and Community Spirit
The Studio Theatre Group presents Rona Munro’s Bold Girls (April 22–24), a moving portrayal of women’s resilience during the Troubles. Meanwhile, the venue continues its commitment to local voices with two photography exhibitions in collaboration with NESCol, celebrating amateur and student talent.
Community remains at the heart of the center. The GREC Language Café and Granite City Speakers Club offer welcoming spaces for connection, while the Save Aberdeen Arts Centre Family Quiz on April 25 provides a fun way for supporters to contribute to the venue's three-year fundraising drive.
Get Involved: Creative Learning
Aspiring creatives can dive into the arts with the new Creative Learning term starting April 15. From "Play in a Day" spring camps for youth to songwriting and drama workshops for adults, there is an opportunity for every age group to develop their skills.
