Shoppers in Leeds are being treated to a rare, "behind-the-velvet-rope" experience as the city prepares for the arrival of TINA – The Tina Turner Musical. In an exclusive partnership with John Lewis Leeds, the production is showcasing original costumes from the hit UK and Ireland tour, offering a close-up look at the dazzling artistry that brings the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s story to life.

Designed by the acclaimed Mark Thompson, these intricate pieces are currently on display in the store’s Click and Collect area. The exhibition serves as a high-fashion prelude to the musical’s residency at the Leeds Grand Theatre, where it will run from Tuesday, 17 March to Saturday, 4 April 2026. Notably, Leeds marks the final stop on this historic tour, making this costume display a unique opportunity for fans to engage with the show's visual legacy before the curtain falls for the last time.

The musical itself is a pulse-pounding tribute to the 12-time Grammy Award winner, chronicling her defiant journey from Nutbush, Tennessee, to global superstardom. Against all odds, Turner shattered barriers of age, race, and gender, a legacy that is celebrated through iconic hits like "The Best," "Private Dancer," and "What’s Love Got To Do With It?"

Taking on the monumental title role are Elle Ma-Kinga N’Zuzi and Jochebel Ohene MacCarthy, who share the part of Tina, alongside David King-Yombo as Ike Turner. The production is a moving dedication to the memory of Tina Turner following her passing in 2023, ensuring her "simply the best" spirit continues to inspire new audiences.

With the Leeds Grand Theatre engagement just weeks away, the John Lewis display offers a tangible connection to the woman who dared to dream fiercely. Whether you are a lifelong fan or a newcomer to her story, seeing these costumes up close provides a stunning reminder of the power and glamour that defined Tina Turner’s incredible career.
