King’s Head Theatre has announced a provocative expansion to its Spring 2026 season, led by a brand-new satirical play from Chortle award-winner Rosie Holt. Churchill’s Urinal (13 May – 6 June), which features additional material by comedy legend Stewart Lee, stars Holt as a Chancellor of the Exchequer embroiled in a political firestorm after trying to remove a historic urinal once used by Winston Churchill.
The season places a heavy emphasis on sharp, female-led comedy. Louisa Omielan brings her highly anticipated God Is A Woman: The Musical (3 April – 1 May) to the stage, exploring what the Bible might look like if translated by a woman. Demand has already triggered extra performances for this strictly limited run.
Comedy Work-in-Progress and New Dramas
For fans of raw stand-up, producing giant Avalon presents a series of Edinburgh Fringe warm-ups, including hour-long sets from Huge Davies (1 April) and Rob Auton (2 April).
The theatrical lineup also features:
Rowling In It (6–18 April): Laura K Bailey’s satirical true story about playing J.K. Rowling in a controversial Fringe show, directed by Dominic Shaw.
The Sequel (20 April – 2 May): A dark comedy-drama by Lucas Closs, directed by Imy Wyatt Corner, exploring the unsettling legacy of a famous author.
Loose Threads (20 March): Malachy O’Callaghan’s nightclub-set comedy-drama makes its London premiere following a five-star Fringe run.
Queer Fairytales and Summer Musical Hits
Looking further ahead, the theatre will debut May Day (17–21 June), a queer musical set in the Hampstead Ponds. This "wet and wild" love story features songs by Sam Woof and was developed directly from interviews with the trans and queer communities.
CEO Sofi Berenger emphasized the theatre’s commitment to "politically defiant and joyful" storytelling. To remain accessible, the venue offers ten tickets for £10 at every performance and a "Pay What You Can" scheme for each production. These new additions join an already packed season featuring stars like Abigail Thorn and playwright Neil LaBute.
