The puppets are moving back to town! Producers Kevin McCollum and Jamie Wilson have announced the full casting and creative team for the 20th Anniversary production of the Tony Award-winning musical Avenue Q. The show will begin a strictly limited season at the Shaftesbury Theatre from 20 March to 29 August 2026.
A New Generation of Neighbors
This milestone production features a dynamic new company of comedy performers tasked with bringing the original Broadway puppets to life. The cast includes:
Emily Benjamin (Cabaret, Twelfth Night) as Kate Monster and Lucy The Slut.
Noah Harrison (Grease, Pretty Woman) as Princeton and Rod.
Meg Hateley (Mamma Mia!) as Mrs. T and Bad Idea Bear.
Dionne Ward-Anderson (SIX) as Gary Coleman.
Charlie McCullagh and Amelia Kinu Muus taking on the roles of Nicky/Trekkie Monster and Christmas Eve, respectively.
Director Jason Moore, who helmed the original Broadway production, returns to lead this anniversary staging. "This dynamic group brings exceptional talent and inventive spirit to the stage," Moore remarked. "I can’t wait for audiences to see them in action!"
The Creative Powerhouse
The anniversary team combines original Broadway legends with fresh UK talent. Original West End cast member Julie Atherton returns to the Avenue Q family as Associate Director. The production features music and lyrics by Robert Lopez (the double EGOT winner behind Frozen and The Book of Mormon) and Jeff Marx, with a book by Jeff Whitty.
The staging utilizes the original Broadway puppets designed by Rick Lyon, while the new UK creative team includes choreographer Ebony Molina (Just For One Day) and costume designer Jean Chan.
An Irreverent Modern Classic
For the uninitiated, Avenue Q follows Princeton, a recent college graduate who discovers that his "purpose" in life is harder to find than he expected. Settling into a rundown New York apartment, he and his colorful neighbors navigate the hilarious and often harsh realities of adulthood, love, and "paying the bills."
Known for its "mischievous" tone and infectious score, the musical first took London by storm in 2006. After a decade-long absence from a full West End run, this 20th-anniversary engagement offers a "perfectly timed" revival for modern audiences.
Tickets are now available for the limited run through August 2026.
