The legendary life and career of Frank Sinatra will take center stage in London this summer as the world-class production of Sinatra The Musical makes its highly anticipated West End premiere. Following a record-breaking, sell-out run at the Birmingham Rep, the show is set to begin performances at the Aldwych Theatre on Wednesday, 3 June 2026.
An Intimate Portrait of an Icon
Set on New Year’s Eve, 1942, the musical follows a 27-year-old Sinatra as he stands on the precipice of superstardom. The narrative explores his meteoric rise, his complex marriage to Nancy, and the torrid affair with movie star Ava Gardner that nearly derailed his career. Far from a simple tribute act, the show offers a "revealing portrait" of the man behind the headlines, showcasing his dogged determination to stage the greatest comeback in showbiz history.
Timeless Hits and a Powerhouse Creative Team
Fans can expect to hear over 20 of Sinatra’s most iconic songs, including "That’s Life", "One For My Baby", "Come Fly With Me", and "The Best Is Yet To Come". These classics will be brought to life by an impressive 17-piece orchestra under the supervision of Gareth Valentine.
The production boasts an elite, multi-award-winning creative team:
Book by Joe DiPietro: The two-time Tony winner (Memphis) was granted unprecedented access to the Sinatra family archives.
Direction & Choreography by Kathleen Marshall: The three-time Tony winner (Anything Goes) brings her signature sophisticated style to the staging.
Produced with the Sinatra Estate: Tina Sinatra, who co-produces the show, describes it as an "emotional diary" of her father’s life.
With a press night scheduled for 24 June 2026, the musical is expected to be the "sophisticated, stylish, and sexy" hit of the summer season. While casting for the titular role remains under wraps, the pedigree of the production suggests a major star announcement is imminent.
