One of the most prestigious events in the global dance calendar is set to reach a historic milestone. On Sunday, February 15, 2026, the Ballet Icons Gala returns to the London Coliseum to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Since its inception, the Gala has earned a reputation for gathering the world’s most elite dancers and choreographers for a single, breathtaking evening of artistry.

Two Decades of Excellence

Founded by Artistic Director Olga Balakeets, the project originally began as a tribute to the legendary prima ballerina Maia Plisetskaya. Two decades later, it has evolved into a vital platform for showcasing contemporary icons and preserving classical tradition. "It is a great source of pride to reach this milestone," says Balakeets. "We are here discovering and presenting the new ballet icons of today, while showcasing the very best of this remarkable art form."

To mark this landmark year, the performances will be accompanied by the English National Ballet Philharmonic Orchestra, ensuring a musical experience as grand as the choreography on stage.

A Program of Premieres and Classics

The 2026 program features a carefully curated blend of classical masterpieces and modern innovation. Highlights include:

The UK Premiere of Asylum: A special collaboration with the New York non-profit Vildwerk Foundation. Choreographed by the award-winning Antonia Franceschi, this piece explores the global environmental crisis.

World Premieres: Exclusive anniversary commissions created specifically for this 20th-year celebration.

Contemporary Gems: Works by renowned choreographers such as Wayne McGregor, Angelin Preljocaj, and Mthuthuzeli November.

A Glittering Global Cast

The evening boasts an extraordinary lineup of principal dancers from the world’s leading companies, including The Royal Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, and La Scala. Audiences will witness performances by icons such as Marianela Núñez OBE, Natalia Osipova, Daniil Simkin, and Francesca Hayward, alongside former Royal Ballet star Edward Watson MBE.

Beyond the stage, guests can enjoy an exclusive photography exhibition in the Coliseum, capturing the most striking moments from the Gala’s twenty-year history.
