The engines are revving for one last lap in London. Producer Michael Harrison has officially confirmed the final extension for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s multi-award-winning production of STARLIGHT EXPRESS. The high-octane revival will play its last performance at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre on Sunday 3 May 2026.
Since its triumphant opening in June 2024, the production has redefined the immersive theatrical experience. It hasn't just captured the hearts of audiences; it has dominated the awards circuit, securing an Olivier Award and a record-breaking seven WhatsOnStage Awards. Currently, it stands as London’s longest-running revival of a Lloyd Webber musical in two decades.
A Global Phenomenon
While the London run is nearing its terminus, the journey is far from over. Harrison also announced that the production will embark on its first-ever World Tour in 2027. "The success of this new production means we will embark on a world tour commencing in Spring 2027," Harrison stated. "However, for now, this is your final call for boarding."
The show's modern cultural impact is undeniable. The 2024 cast album has surpassed 17 million streams, fueled largely by Al Knott’s viral rendition of ‘Pumping Iron,’ which amassed over 100 million views on social media. Physical sales have topped 12,000 units, proving that the appetite for this 40-person cast of skating superstars remains at an all-time high.
The Ultimate Immersive Experience
Staged in the purpose-built Starlight Auditorium, the show features a child’s train set coming to life, with Rusty the steam train (Gavin Adams) racing to find the "Light at the End of the Tunnel." With choreography by Ashley Nottingham and creative direction from Arlene Phillips, the cast whizzes around and above the audience at breakneck speeds.
