Global music sensation Sam Ryder is set to make his highly anticipated West End debut, headlining a major revival of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic rock opera, Jesus Christ Superstar. The production, a unique staging of the Olivier Award-winning hit, will play a strictly limited 11-week season at the London Palladium next summer.

The show runs from Saturday, June 20, to Saturday, September 5, 2026.

A Star Rises on the West End Stage

Ryder, a BRIT and Emmy-nominated singer-songwriter who shot to fame following his viral TikTok success and Eurovision triumph with "Space Man," will take on the iconic title role. The musical marks the first time the critically acclaimed artist, who recently scored a #1 album, Heartland, has taken to the theatre stage.

“I’m so excited to be part of one of the biggest institutions in musical theatre the world’s ever known,” Ryder said. “I'm honoured to take on this responsibility as I follow in the footsteps of rock vocal titans like Ian Gillan and John Farnham.”

Award-Winning Team Reunites

The production sees the thrilling reunion of the creative team behind the legendary 2016 staging at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, 10 years after its debut. The show will be directed by Tim Sheader, with choreography by Olivier Award-winner Drew McOnie and design by Tony and Olivier Award-winner Tom Scutt.

The musical follows the events of the last days of Jesus Christ, as seen through the eyes of Judas, featuring the legendary score that includes hits like ‘I Don’t Know How to Love Him,’ ‘Gethsemane,’ and the title track ‘Superstar.’

Producer Michael Harrison praised the casting, stating, “In Sam we have a true superstar to play the iconic title role, and I look forward to sharing further announcements about the production in the coming months.”

Tickets go on exclusive presale on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, with general sale following on Wednesday, November 26th. You can sign up for presale access at london.jesuschristsuperstar.com.
