Aberdeen Arts Centre is gearing up for a vibrant July, announcing a packed schedule of musicals, touring artists, and unique local talent, all while rallying support for its "Save Aberdeen Arts Centre" campaign. The centre, a cherished cultural hub, expressed immense gratitude for the community's outpouring of support as it enters the final phase one of its fundraising efforts.

The July lineup kicks off with the energetic "Popstars! The 90s Musical," presented by Bridge of Don Academy from July 2nd to 4th. This hilarious show pits boybands against girlbands, featuring smash hits from icons like The Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys, in a tale of high school romance and showbiz dreams.

Rock fans can transport themselves back to the 80s on July 5th with "The UK Rock Show." This five-piece band promises a festival-like atmosphere, complete with fireworks and flames, as they recreate anthems from rock gods such as Journey, Aerosmith, and Bon Jovi.

A highlight for local talent and Edinburgh Fringe enthusiasts is Lucy Beth's "Ma Name Is Isabelle" on July 24th. This spoken-word performance, told entirely in Doric, offers a poignant reimagining of the bothy ballad "Bogie’s Bonnie Belle," exploring themes of resilience and triumph through a young woman's personal journey.

Families are invited to experience the magic of Artie’s Singing Kettle on July 26th, returning to beloved original repertoire with timeless favourites like "Aiken Drum" and "Three Craws."

Closing out the month with a unique display of local dedication is the 24 Hour Musical on July 27th, presented by Feed the Seagull Productions. North-east talent will produce, learn, rehearse, and perform a full-scale musical in just one day, with all proceeds directly supporting the #SaveAberdeenArtsCentre campaign. Expect a chaotic, high-energy, and unforgettable night!

Beyond the main stage, Aberdeen Arts Centre is fostering new talent with free Street Theatre Workshops with Surge from July 17th to 20th, offering Aberdonians the chance to learn new performance skills and potentially perform at the Tall Ships event. The centre also continues its diverse Creative Learning classes for all ages, from Castlegate Theatre Company for teens to Creative Play for young children and Songwriter Sessions for adults.

With a busy summer ahead and an ongoing campaign to secure its future, Aberdeen Arts Centre remains a vital cornerstone of the city's artistic landscape. For more information, tickets, or to support the campaign, click here.
