Edinburgh Fringe Festival stalwart and Scotsman Fringe-First winner Bob Kingdom is set to return to the stage with his celebrated one-man show, 'The Truman Capote Talk Show'. Presented by Richard Jordan Productions in association with The Pleasance, the play will run at The Pleasance Courtyard (Attic) from July 30 to August 25, with press performances beginning July 31.

This acclaimed production offers a fascinating portrait of the iconic American novelist, screenwriter, playwright, and actor, Truman Capote. Kingdom embodies a man grappling with the profound psychological conflict between immense creative talent and a relentless self-destructive impulse. The show delves into Capote's dazzling early career with works like Other Voices, Other Rooms, In Cold Blood, and Breakfast at Tiffany’s, contrasted with his dramatic fall from grace following the controversial publication of Answering Prayers. This gossipy dissection of Manhattan's elite led to his swift ostracization, from which he never truly recovered, leading to a life spent observing rather than participating amidst Andy Warhol's coterie and a well-documented descent into addiction.

Critics have lauded Kingdom's portrayal, with The Guardian praising it as "A terrific script, tight, funny, poignant, and bursting with celebrated one-liners." The New York Times hailed it as a "tour-de-force." Fans of Capote, the infamous and outrageous figure, will delight in this critically acclaimed exploration of an obsessive, creative, and ultimately destructive soul, speaking from beyond the early grave.

Bob Kingdom is a highly respected writer and performer in the UK, renowned for his captivating solo shows. Beyond Capote, his celebrated guises include Stan Laurel, Dylan Thomas (in Anthony Hopkins' directorial debut), Elsa Edgar, Edward Duke of Windsor, and Evelyn Waugh. His long-standing collaboration with producer Richard Jordan spans decades, creating a formidable body of work that has garnered international acclaim.
