Just as previews kick off this evening, Disney Theatrical Group has announced a significant extension for their highly anticipated new musical, 'Hercules,' at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Fans will now have even more time to catch the epic production, with bookings now available through March 28, 2026.
Inspired by the beloved 1997 Walt Disney Animation Studios film, this stage adaptation brings the mythical tale to life with music by the legendary Alan Menken and lyrics by David Zippel. The new book, penned by Robert Horn and Kwame Kwei-Armah, promises a fresh take on the classic story. Director and choreographer Casey Nicholaw, co-choreographing with Tanisha Scott, leads a stellar creative team in reimagining the vibrant world of Ancient Greece.
The original animated feature, directed by John Musker and Ron Clements, was critically acclaimed, earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song with the iconic "Go the Distance." This stage version aims to capture that same magic, delivering a "wise-cracking, column-shaking, underworld-rocking ride of adventure, self-discovery, and love."
Leading the charge as the titular hero is Luke Brady. The powerhouse Muses are brought to life by Candace Furbert (Thalia), Sharlene Hector (Clio), Brianna Ogunbawo (Melpomene), Malinda Parris (Calliope), and Robyn Rose-Li (Terpsichore), with Kimmy Edwards and Kamilla Fernandes as Standby Muses. The impressive cast also features Mae Ann Jorolan as Meg, Trevor Dion Nicholas as Phil, Stephen Carlile as Hades, and Craig Gallivan and Lee Zarrett as Bob and Charles, supported by a dynamic ensemble.
With its blend of gods, mortals, and a hero striving for true strength, 'Hercules' is set to be a dazzling addition to London's West End, promising an unforgettable theatrical experience.
