Hampstead Theatre today announced an electrifying Autumn 2025 season, promising a captivating blend of world premieres, a UK premiere, and a highly anticipated revival. The lineup boasts an impressive roster of talent, including theatrical luminaries Felicity Kendal, Tracy-Ann Oberman, and Tom Stoppard, alongside exciting debut playwrights Nancy Farino and Will Lord.
The Main Stage season kicks off in October with the UK premiere of Richard Greenberg’s Tony Award-nominated The Assembled Parties. This sharply observed family portrait, which enjoyed critical acclaim and extended runs on Broadway, will star the formidable Tracy-Ann Oberman and be directed by Blanche McIntyre.
A major highlight sees the return of celebrated playwright Tom Stoppard to Hampstead, following his recent sell-out successes. His rarely revived Indian Ink will be directed by Jonathan Kent, and in a poignant turn, Felicity Kendal will star as Mrs Swan, 30 years after originating the role of Flora Crewe in the play's world premiere. This marks the play's first major UK staging since 1995, with a special Gala performance on January 24th to support the theatre, before transferring to Theatre Royal Bath.
The Downstairs season champions new voices with three world premieres. Will Lord makes his debut with The Billionaire Inside Your Head, a biting satire directed by Hampstead veteran Anna Ledwich. Jamie Armitage, fresh from his recent playwriting debut, returns as writer/director with A Ghost in Your Ear, a chilling and immersive experience utilising binaural sound technology. Completing the downstairs programme is Fatherland, the debut play from Nancy Farino, an emerging playwright from Hampstead Theatre’s Inspire programme, directed by Tessa Walker.
Greg Ripley-Duggan, Producer and Chief Executive, expressed his excitement: "This is a season where legends meet lightning bolts. It places internationally-renowned writers like Tom Stoppard and Richard Greenberg alongside emerging playwrights you’ll be hearing about for years to come, and this underscores Hampstead’s enduring commitment to creative risk and original new work."
Beyond the stage, Hampstead Theatre continues its commitment to nurturing talent through its offstage initiatives. Playwright Simon Stephens has been appointed Programme Director of the Inspire programme, mentoring emerging writers, while Carmen Nasr will lead a creative writing group through the Engage programme, fostering intergenerational connections.
Tickets for the Autumn 2025 season are on sale to Patrons from today, Friday 30 May, to Friends on Tuesday 3 June, and to the public from Friday 6 June.
