Underbelly is marking its 25th year at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2025 with a landmark programme featuring over 150 shows across theatre, comedy, circus, cabaret, musicals, and family entertainment. Tickets are now on sale via underbellyedinburgh.co.uk.

The company will once again take over its signature Fringe venues at Bristo Square, Cowgate, George Square and Circus Hub on the Meadows, hosting a diverse and international array of talent.

Returning favourites and bold new work lead the lineup. Bernie Dieter’s Club Kabarett returns in a new expanded version, while Circa’s powerful Wolf promises acrobatics at their most visceral. BAFTA-nominated Nina Conti is back with her signature ventriloquism in Whose Face Is It Anyway?, and cult favourite Mythos: Ragnarök merges Norse myth and wrestling in spectacular style.

Musical theatre gets a fresh injection with Medusa Uncut, a wild-west retelling of the Gorgon myth, and How to Win Against History, a witty exploration of the eccentric Henry Paget. Family shows include the return of FLIP Fabrique with Six°, and Newcastle’s Revel Puck Collective with three shows, including The Ugly Duckling.

Comedy highlights feature Adam Kay’s latest, A Particularly Nasty Case, and Fringe debuts from international stars such as Bryan Safi, Prashasti Singh and Shane Daniel Byrne. New perspectives abound in shows like Joe Tracini: Ten Things I Hate About Me and Queer Tales for Autistic Folk by Cerys Bradley.

On the theatre front, Brown Girls Do It Too: Mama Told Me Not To Come adapts the hit podcast, and Cecilia Gentili’s RED INK examines identity and faith. Scottish work includes DESPERATE WEE GAY BOY and Going Soft, while standout international productions range from Saria Callas to Fringe favourite Why I Stuck A Flare Up My Arse For England.

Co-Director Ed Bartlam said: “This programme reflects everything we love about the Fringe: new voices, big ideas and unforgettable experiences.”

The 2025 Underbelly season runs throughout August. Full listings and ticket info at underbellyedinburgh.co.uk.
