Robert Bolt’s gripping historical drama lands at the Harold Pinter Theatre this August.

Following a critically acclaimed, sold-out UK tour earlier this year, A Man For All Seasons – starring renowned stage and screen actor Martin Shaw – will transfer to London’s Harold Pinter Theatre for a strictly limited season from 6 August to 6 September.

Directed by Jonathan Church and presented by Theatre Royal Bath Productions and Jonathan Church Theatre Productions, this electrifying revival has captivated audiences across the country, now making its much-anticipated West End debut.

Robert Bolt’s award-winning play charts the dramatic downfall of Sir Thomas More – a scholar, statesman, and man of unwavering principle – as he defies King Henry VIII’s demand for support in annulling his marriage. Torn between loyalty and conscience, More’s stand against tyranny becomes a powerful portrait of integrity and sacrifice.

Martin Shaw, celebrated for his roles in Judge John Deed, Inspector George Gently, and The Professionals, brings gravitas and nuance to the role of Sir Thomas More. Shaw reunites with director Jonathan Church, following their West End success with Hobson’s Choice.

The stellar ensemble cast also features Gary Wilmot, Edward Bennett, Nicholas Day, Calum Finlay, Orlando James, Hari Kang, Asif Khan, Annie Kingsnorth, Sam Parks, Sam Phillips, Louisa Sexton, and more to be announced.

The production boasts an exceptional creative team: Simon Higlett (Set & Costume), Mark Henderson (Lighting), Paul Groothuis (Sound), Matthew Scott (Composer), and Gabrielle Dawes (Casting).

Before its West End run, A Man For All Seasons will visit the Theatre Royal Brighton (22–26 July) and Grand Opera House York (29 July–2 August).

Critics have hailed the production as “a cracking story of human courage” (Mail on Sunday) and praised its “striking images, intelligence and ready wit.” (Daily Mail)
