The Donmar Warehouse has announced the full cast for its upcoming production of Lynn Nottage’s acclaimed play Intimate Apparel. Starring Emmy Award-winning Samira Wiley (The Handmaid’s Tale, Orange Is the New Black) as Esther, the production will run from 20 June to 9 August 2025, with press night on 26 June.
Joining Wiley in the cast are Nicola Hughes (Opening Night) as Mrs Dickson, Claudia Jolly (Girl from the North Country) as Mrs Van Buren, Kadiff Kirwan (Doctor Who) as George, Faith Omole (Standing at the Sky’s Edge) as Mayme, and Alex Waldmann (Jews. In Their Own Words) as Mr Marks.
The production reunites two award-winning talents—playwright Lynn Nottage, a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, and director Lynette Linton, who previously collaborated on the Donmar’s hit productions of Sweat and Clyde’s.
Set in 1905 New York, Intimate Apparel tells the story of Esther, a gifted seamstress who creates exquisite lingerie for women across the city. Though independent and ambitious, she longs for romance and companionship. When she begins receiving letters from a mysterious stranger, she dares to hope for a new life—only to find her journey to love and self-discovery is far from simple.
The creative team includes Alex Berry (Set & Costume Design), Cynthia de la Rosa (Wigs, Hair & Make-Up Design), Jai Morjaria (Lighting Design), George Dennis (Sound Design), XANA (Composer), and Gino Ricardo Green (Video Design).
