A new play is coming to The Space Theatre this March - 'The Last Supper', a modern take on a kitchen-sink drama that explores the ‘what if?’ moments where we could have made different choices, and the domino effect they have through time and space.
Trapped in a seemingly inescapable kitchen, a man and a woman prepare their last supper over and over again, having forgotten the recipe, and most importantly, each other.
And yet, there is something strangely familiar about the whole situation…
To put a full stop to their sentence, they must find the right words to solve the puzzle of their past. Can they remember in time?
This original play is written, directed, and performed by Alexandra Andrei and Elliot Windsor. Partners on stage and in real life, Alex and Elliot met at East 15 Acting school 10 years ago, and were brought together by a shared passion for provocative and perplexing theatre that pushes the envelope and challenges audiences to reimagine a typical night at the theatre.
The Last Supper was born out of that passion - a 'play on words' that is designed as a puzzle to be solved by the audience, that relies on structure rather than plot to tell a story. The concept that is central to this piece is food and the dinner table. As they take knives and graters and peelers to an array of groceries, the mounting compost heap grows and intermingles - a compost of human history. Through the lens of cooking, they explore conversations that happen behind closed doors across time and space. Some themes you can expect to see are love, death, and regret; remembering and forgetting; and the imbalances in relationships between men and women.
A show that will stick with you long after you've watched; one could say it will be truly unforgettable..
