Jacksons Lane have lined up a 50th birthday celebration to cherish and remember this year.
The Highgate-based arts venue held its Spring programme launch event this week, when staff reflected upon their achievements over the last half-century and looked ahead to a momentous 12 months to come.
Among attendees were Haringey Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure, Cllr Emily Arkell, and Kenneth Olumuyiwa Tharp CBE, the council’s Joint Assistant Director for Culture and Creativity.
The evening included sample showcases of some of the fantastic cabaret, circus and family entertainment acts that will be performing on stage there in the weeks ahead prior to a big, community-focused birthday bash this summer.
This calendar year has already begun in fine fashion at Jacksons Lane, with two sold-out shows – Christmas Comes To Moomin Valley and An Evening Without Kate Bush.
There’s plenty more in store to boot!
Described as “bringing generations together through seriously skilful silliness,” Darryl J Carrington’s family-friendly comedy show Out Of The Box (Sunday 26 January 2025) is a joyous celebration of PLAY throughout your life, whatever your age.
Naughty Cabaret (Friday 7 February 2025) proved a huge hit at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe for loveable duo Anna Marie Simonsen and Marie Kallevik Straume.
Exploring struggles with addiction, body image, inner demons and self-worth, Tilly Lee-Cronick’s captivating tale Handful Of Nothing (Thursday 6 February 2025) is a poetic, playful journey that’s full of surprises, incorporating dance, ingenious storytelling, innovative aerial choreography, puppetry and song.
Blurring the line between ordinary and spectacular and packed with humour, Häppy Hour (Friday 14 March 2025) by The Nordic Council reminds us that it’s okay to laugh at ourselves – even at our worst.
Finally, Foan and Fortune’s Mess (Sunday 16 March 2025) is a fantastical puppetry adventure jam-packed with comedy, magic and original music.
