Steve Steinman has hit number one in the Amazon Rock Music Chart with the release of the soundtrack to his brand-new musical Vampires Rock – Eternal Love, muscling aside the Wicked Soundtrack, plus albums from Pink Floyd and Robbie Williams.
The double album of 20 original songs, drawn from Eternal Love: The Musical, even enjoyed a top five place in the overall Amazon Music chart.
It marks the third consecutive number one album on Amazon or iTunes, or both, for producer, writer and performer Steve, whose 38-date Eternal Love UK tour enjoys its world premiere on Friday, January 24, at Hull New Theatre.
Eternal Love: The Musical will be seen at the UK’s top regional venues from Southampton to Inverness, and all points in between from January to the end of May this year.
It is believed that Eternal Love: The Musical is the first rock musical to feature an all-original score since The Rocky Horror Show.
“I was proud of my previous number one albums – Take a Leap of Faith and Heaven’s Gate – but initial album sales of Eternal Love have surpassed these, and during the highly competitive festive market.”
Steve says producing a musical comprised solely of original songs has been a huge risk.
“Jukebox musicals have become the bread and butter of musical theatre,” he says. “And, certainly, my Vampires Rock franchise has benefitted immensely from their popularity.
“But, where’s the creativity in that? Eternal Love is a first for 21st Century musicals – it features an original storyline and an original score, performed by an original cast.”
Eternal Love: The Musical is the third in the Vampires Rock trilogy and is on target to achieve £2m at the box office.
