Many deem the thought of losing our minds unfathomable, but what happens when it strikes close to home?

At its heart this is a play that shines a light on the desperate and determined measures taken to reconnect with someone on the road to recovery.

After the success of our sell-out debut production ‘Flood’ which opened at the Tristan Bates Theatre to rave reviews we are delighted to bing our next production to The Bunker Theatre: Section 2 by emerging playwright Peter Imms, which was shortlisted for the UNTAPPED Award 2018.

Drawn from a personal experience of our playwright who's childhood friend was sectioned under the mental health act, ‘Section 2’ is a part verbatim piece exploring the idea of what it means to lose your mind and how we process and aid the recovery of those afflicted.

‘Section 2’ hones in on an aspect of mental health that is rarely addressed in theatre; sectioning. The discussions surrounding mental health tend to focus depression and anxiety but not so much about the process of recovery for the patient and the fight for care between loved ones and those working alongside them.

We are delighted to be actively working with mental health charity MIND on the script development of this production to make sure the content of the play is accurate and truthful to the situation.

Director Georgie Staight’s previous credits include Dreamless Sleep at the and Finborough shows Dubailand and Into The Numbers both for the Finborough Theatre. Peter is a playwright from the West Midlands with a raw and detailed writing style. His first play Press was performed in 2014 and he has since had his plays Choose Life and Saturday produced in London. Both Saturday and a later piece, Hand of God, were long listed for the Papatango New Writing Prize.
